• NO federal assistance programs pay for or provide diapers, not WIC, not Food Stamps, and Medicare only provides them for hospice. Diapers are an unmet basic need, a huge hole in the “safety net.”
• Parents cannot leave children at daycare without disposable diapers. If a parent cannot afford diapers, he or she can’t go to work or school and the vicious cycle of poverty continues.
• Senior citizens who can’t afford incontinence supplies often lose their independence and don’t leave their homes for fear they will have an “accident” in public.
• Some children who are disabled never outgrow the need for diapers and without them cannot attend school or training.
• A healthy change of diapers can cost a family $100 or more per month per child. A family in Michigan must be 44% below the poverty line to receive any kind of cash assistance and then a family of 3 will only receive $492/month.
• Nonprofits working with families in crisis list diapers as an ongoing and TOP need.

• Donations: We need material and financial donations to meet this need. Diapers of any brand or size, baby through adult; even open packages are appreciated.
• Community Engagement: Our Diaper Bank can succeed only if the community becomes engaged in our efforts. We need groups and individuals who are willing to run Diaper Drives and Fundraisers to support it.

We will provide playpens to collect diapers, tax receipts for donations and we will pick up the diapers when your Diaper Drive or Fundraiser is over. We will even come to your business or organization to explain this incredible need.
